Hi all,
I am looking for a 2 min long (possibly not too much longer, but 3 mins is ok) - of something, perhaps arabic pop (although i'm not a desperate fan of that), to get students going for a short choreography. Preferably something heavy on lively drums and egyptian in style. Not a drum solo, but something cheeky and funky.
Can anyone recommend a piece for me? I have thousands of pieces of music in my itunes, but none fit this description annoyingly!!
Thank you!

Re: Music - looking for something really upbeat, help!
Sat, July 18, 2009 - 7:48 AMDear Indy,
Have you heard any of the versions of "Azooza"? It is a pretty fun song and it its too long you can fade it. Plus its easy to explain the song to the students because it pretty much only has one verse that can be taken a couple of ways!
Regards,
A'isha -

Sat, July 18, 2009 - 9:05 AMDear Indu,
The song is so cute!! It's got a fun beat and it says
"Ma shirab shi Chai, Ashrab azooza anna.", which means "I don't drink tea, I drink Azooza" . Azooza is any soft drink that comes in a bottle, according to several of my Arabic speaking friends. My company did a cute Arabian MTV type skit with it and had a blast. It had some sort of social double meaning as well... a bit naughty but very cute!!
Regards,
A'isha

Sat, July 18, 2009 - 6:10 PMI am not home at the moment, but I seem to recall the album "How to Belly Dance for Your Sultan" to have some numbers that fit the bill. I am not sure if you can get any of them through amazon.com or itunes, but there were some short fun ones on that album. -

Sat, August 1, 2009 - 5:35 PMYes, it is very fun! About 3 years ago I choreographed a number to this one, it was very fun to do! I wish it was on you tube so I could share it, but at that time I dont think I even owned a computer! Have fun!

Sun, July 19, 2009 - 4:10 AMCairo Dreams by Hicham Katir Orchestra on the album 123 Bellydance Vol 1 of 2 Time: 2 mintues 53 Seconds
The length is a little longer than what you asked for.
You might also want to try an artist on ITunes called Ron Wagner He has two albums one is geared toward fast beats and the other is geared toward slower beats. -

Re: Music - looking for something really upbeat, help!
Mon, July 20, 2009 - 7:56 AMI know you weren't looking for drum solo, but Tony Chamoun has a few great short ones that I love to use for a beginners choreo.
Try "Lola" for example, it's only 1: 24. You find it on itunes.
