Re: Books
Tue, May 5, 2009 - 6:28 AMAnthea has a book on teaching bellydance that she sells on her website: www.kawakib.com/page-6.html.
I'll admit that I've bought it, but I haven't sat down and read through it, yet. However, I bought her guide to choreography at the same time, and it's marvelous! So, I'm betting that her teaching one is also wonderful. -

Tue, May 5, 2009 - 8:24 AMSorry...Tribe is apparently not as smart as Microsoft products. It put the period from the end of the sentence into the link. Here it is w/o the ending period:

Re: Books
Tue, May 5, 2009 - 12:51 PMI definitely second this one, Anthea's book really helps you to clarify where it is you're going or should be planning to go with your teaching.

I think I am going to recommend it for all my students, but want to get through the whole thing first. I'll report back when I am done! -

Re: Books
Fri, May 8, 2009 - 11:01 AMwere you looking for the biz side of starting a dance class or just content for structuring a class?
This is a book (well I guess it is a whole course- dvds, music, handbook, business templates, & weekly class plans)
that may be helpful to the start-up of a business... but not having used it personally, perhaps some one else who has can comment on whether or not they recommend it. It certainly sounds like a convenient one-stop start-up guide.

Has anyone reviewed this package or know someone who used it? -

Re: Books
Mon, May 11, 2009 - 2:39 AMThanks for the suggestions. I've been teaching for a few years so I'm looking for books with ideas on different teaching methods as opposed to how to start up a class. I know what we learn from our own dance instructors is invaluable, but it's good to learn from other teachers experiences and outlooks too.
