hi there! if anyone can help me out, i am teaching a class in an hour, and have not yet planned what to do! for my other classes I do have class plans etc so this isn't my usual style, but because it is a fitness based class for beginner level at a gym, I tend not to teach any choreography, and we don't spend ages drilling a few moves, like i might if we wanted to work on technique. we usually refresh moves, put them together into some sort of combo or two, and then dance this out. however, i try to vary things, like last week i had them in 3 lines, back line were shimmying on spot & adding arms, the middle line were doing forward/bk shimmy step with different arms, and the front line were shimmy walking forward & back, as they all say they struggle most with shimmies! then after 32 counts the front line split, shimmy walk to make the back, they all move forward & do the next move etc etc. anyway, i'm waffling when i should be planning! but any ideas for fresh but simple combinations or fun class/group activitie whilst still working up a sweat is much appreciated! and if you can reply within an hour, i could even use them for tonight!! had a long day at work and so haven't de-stressed from that yet!

Wed, September 30, 2009 - 10:58 AMTry exposing them to some of the folkloric line dances...If nothing else it will get them aerobic and giggling.

Wed, September 30, 2009 - 1:01 PMthanks Dandy, may use that next week - in the end i put together a simple combo of moves where we'd do the same mvoe 3x and then do something different, or add an accent on '4', which worked well, and got the heart rate up!
